What it is not

• A determination that anyone is or is not subject to sanctions.
• Legal, compliance or professional advice.
• Politically exposed person (PEP) screening — this service does not do that at all.
• Live: the lists are refreshed once a day, not queried in real time.
• Exhaustive: most EU Member States publish no national sanctions list of their own and apply the EU list directly; only some maintain an autonomous list, and no warranty is given that the lists checked here are complete.
• Free of error: name matching produces both false positives and false negatives, and transliteration between alphabets makes both more likely.
• A substitute for your own responsibility: you remain solely responsible for your own compliance obligations.
