Sanctions screening in Germany

From 10 July 2027, Regulation (EU) 2024/1624 applies directly in every Member State. The EU consolidated sanctions list already binds Germany today.

Who supervises

• Zentralstelle für Finanztransaktionsuntersuchungen (FIU) — Financial intelligence unit
• Bundesanstalt für Finanzdienstleistungsaufsicht (BaFin) — Supervisor for the financial sector

Supervision of the non-financial obliged entities — accountants, notaries, real estate agents — sits with authorities at Land (state) level, not with BaFin.

National sanctions list

Germany publishes no separate national list and applies the EU list directly.
